Characteristics

The successes of “Querida” have provided a great deal of inspiration for designing hulls and appendages, which new materials and continued studies in hydrodynamics carried out together with ICAD, have made even more current. The hull shapes therefore include very rounded sections, with stern and bow rakes reduced to a minimum to achieve a water line length of 10.80 metres. Displacement, as a ratio of length, is average and the maximum beam is set far enough back to improve performance at the relevant high speeds. The sail plan, the ratio between main and genoa surface areas, are typical of fractional plans with the relevant benefits in terms of easy handling, which is also perfect for the cruiser: a large batten main with lazy jack and a genoa and spinnaker of modest size. The deck has a very large and shallow cockpit, with all rig sent above the deckhouse alongside the entrance to make it easier to use the helm when cruising too. The hull and deck construction is in Kevlar composite, and left exposed on the interior of the boat. The overall styling and the design of the interior is cutting edge: the interior is divided into bow cabin with twin beds and double cabin in the stern, bathroom module in the centre and dinette, galley and course plotting area amidships, constructed with termanto and glass fibre sandwich panels. Furnishings are structural parts of the boat, and the symmetrical division of fittings plays a part in increasing the overall rigidity and light weight. The specific layout also makes it possible for the boat to be used in two ways: cruise version, with both cabins, and racer, where the cabin doors are used to close the wardrobes and create the perfect open space with central module - based on an aeronautical layout – that combines steps, bathroom and engine room into a single block.
