Record 80’ is proof of how a “racing machine” with all of its technical features and linear design, can be transformed into a comfortable cruising yacht. The firm was called on to design the deck and furnishings, starting with the existing hull structure in kevlar and carbon, designed by Sandro Buzzi to break records in endurance races.
Record 80’ is one of the few examples of composite technology applied to motor-powered vessels. Vismara has transferred its own design style and more precisely, experience with the latest custom builds with structural furnishings, to fit out this motor yacht for the highest performance, with self-supporting units or units able to withstand the acceleration force, 6 times that of gravity, which this vessel with its 70 knot speed is able to reach.
The deck and the stern section have been modified to create living areas and a sun deck as well as a compartment to house the tender in the stern. The helm area has also been redesigned, without altering the technical and instrumentation part and therefore, integrating the new dinette/galley area with existing structures. In the same way that all of the interiors use the existing composite bulkheads to divide spaces, new furnishing elements are structurally integrated or bound to the hull and bulkheads. For styling to be correct and in line with the craft, exposed composite materials such as carbon or Kevlar were used, going back to concepts and techniques previously adopted on the Vismara 43 Open “Koala Hi-Tech”, whose “racer” version suggested the idea of using composite material as a furnishing elements. Lightness, simplicity and luminosity are characteristics of this project, achieved and enhanced with colours including metallic paint and technical upholstery.
